Maximus Derba's Mission
Maximus Derba’s Mission facilitates an educational scholarship, shares awareness regarding Neuroblastoma, and partners with organizations to facilitate assistance and resources for families, patients, families and friends facing the challenges associated with pediatric cancer.
Our Projecting courage initiative provides boxes containing the gift of warmth and courage to patients and their caregivers in challenging moments. We are dedicated to keeping Max's memory alive through positive, compassionate and impactful works.
Max's Story
On July 22nd, 2016, Maximus Derba was taken to Golisano Children's Hospital to treat some general symptoms: fever, rash, fatigue, etc.
Doctors initially believed Max's symptoms were caused by some sort of blockage, but after running some tests, they soon discovered a baseball-sized mass in his abdomen...
About Neuroblastoma
Neuroblastoma is a cancer often found in the small glands on top of the kidneys (adrenal glands). It can develop in the belly, chest, neck, pelvis, and bones. Children ages five or younger are most commonly affected.
Scholarship Fund
Each year, an 8th grade student from St. Andrew Catholic School receives a monetary scholarship to assist with continuing their education at Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Maximus Derba's name.
